APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • In large programs, the Editor indicates that the Tooling failed
because of syntax error.
The problem is caused when there are embedded SQL statements
being returned by the extension pre-processor plugin that the
customer has written

Problem summary


    

  • After pre-processor is executed, subsequent updates to the
source program are not properly processed.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • The problem was caused by having embedded SQL statements being
returned by the extension pre-processor. Within the code,
parsing required a special case when processing embedded SQL
from an external pre-processed file but with use of a custom
plugin doing the pre-processing there was no check to see if an
external file is being used or not and since there was none used
 an exception was thrown.

The code was changed to check if there's an external file being
used, and if not then it proceeds past the special handling.
