Error description
Customers are advised to put their own jars in the shared-classes directory. However, if log4j*.jar is included in the shared-classes directory, this clashes with the version shipped by IIB for the Kafka nodes. This can result in the following Java exception: java.lang.IllegalAccessError
Local fix
Customers could include their version of log4j*jar in the Application before deploying, instead of dropping it in the shared-classes.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM Integration Bus 10.0.0.7 and above adding jars to the classpath using the shared-classes folder. Platforms affected: z/OS, MultiPlatform **************************************************************** PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When adding a jar to the shared-classes diretory for use in JavaCompute node, if the classes exist in the shipped jars of Kafka (kafka client jar, slf4j or log4j), they will be loaded from there, rather than the user jars. For example, log4j jars are shipped for the local copy of Kafka, so any log4j jars in the shared-classes directory would be ignored. This can lead to IllegalAccessErrors as multiple versions of the log4j jars may be used, and the wrong one is inistialised with user classes, such as Appenders. This APAR is also used to fix a similar issue in the MQTT jars, as these suffer the same problem.
Problem conclusion
Classloading has been changed for MQTT and Kafka jars, removing the possible conflicts from the classpath with JavaCompute nodes. --------------------------------------------------------------- The fix is targeted for delivery in the following PTFs: Version Maintenance Level v10.0 10.0.0.10 The latest available maintenance can be obtained from: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=849&uid=swg27006041 If the maintenance level is not yet available, information on its planned availability can be found on: http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=849&uid=swg27006308 ---------------------------------------------------------------
