PI83951: DFHSJ1007 W JVMSERVER IS BEING DISABLED AND RESTARTED BY CICS BECAUSE IT IS IN AN INCONSISTENT STATE.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• DFHSJ1007 JVMSERVER is being disabled and restarted by CICS
  because it is in an inconsistent state.
  JVMserver goes into inconsistent state and does not respond to
  CEMT SET JVM(JVMNAME)  disable/enable/purge/forcepurge. At this
  point the JVMServer is hung and tasks involved are in a
  deadlock.
  Previous joblog messages show the following abend:
  DFHSJ0001 An abend (code ---/AKEA) has occurred at offset
            X'0C82' in module DFHSJIN

Local fix

Problem summary

• ****************************************************************
  * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users.                              *
  ****************************************************************
  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: JVMSERVER cannot be re-enabled due to   *
  *                      hung task holding SJGLOBAL.             *
  ****************************************************************
  A request is made to collect statistics about an enabled
  JVMSERVER.  This causes a call to be made into the JVM server to
  execute Java code.
  
  Whilst the Java code is executing the JVMSERVER is disabled.
  The logic to disable a JVMSERVER will not wait for the task
  collecting statistics to complete, so it is possible for the JVM
  to be destroyed before the Java code collecting statistics
  finishes.  If this occurs the task collecting statistics will
  hang indefinitely.
  
  If execution of the statistics request went through DFHSJST, the
  hung task will hold the SJGLOBAL lock which will prevent
  JVMSERVER resource actions, such as the re-enabling of the
  disabled JVMSERVER.
  

Problem conclusion

• DFHSJJS has been modified so that disabling of a JVMSERVER will
  wait if statistics collection is in progress.
