APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • HPIC uses LIST.RECON STATUS for specifying RECON data set name.
But when RECON1 is spare and more than 3 HPIC JOBs run at the
same time, LIST RECON process in some JOB returns "UNAVAILABLE"
status of RECON1 and data set name field is blank. HPIC copies
RECON dsname from this blank field and calls ITKB.

    ****************************************************************
When the status of DBRC RECON1 is SPARE and multiple IMS HP
Image Copy jobs run in simultaneous parallel, IMS HP Image Copy
    issues FABJ0221W message ( MSGFABJ0221W ) for the Report
Repository function of IMS Tools KB process:
FABJ0221W ERROR OCCURRED IN ACCESSING OUTPUT REPOSITORY
FUNC: INITIAL RC: 04 RSN: 060

This problem occurs when the following conditions are met:
    - The status of DBRC RECON1 is SPARE
    - IMS HP Image Copy runs as stand-alone(EXEC PGM=FABJMAIN)
    - DBRC=Y is specified
    - By the specification of ITKBSRVR=servername, IMS HP Image
Copy stores reports in the IMS Tools KB Output repository
    - Multiple IMS HP Image Copy jobs run in simultaneous parallel

When IMS HP Image Copy accesses to IMS Tools KB, IMS HP Image
Copy obtains the RECON1 data set name by LIST.RECON STATUS
command using Database Recovery Control utility (DSPURXT0) and
passes it to IMS Tools KB at the initialization request.
But when the above conditions are met, there is a case that
proper status of RECON1 is not reflected in the result of
    LIST.RECON STATUS command.
When it occurs, the field of RECON1 status is UNAVAILABLE and
the field of RECON1 data set name is blank.
In this case, IMS HP Image Copy passes a blank data as the
RECON1 data set name to IMS Tools KB.
As a result, the initialization request of IMS Tools KB fails
and IMS HP Image Copy issues FABJ0221W message ( MSGFABJ0221W ).

Problem conclusion

  • By this APAR, IMS HP Image Copy has been modified as follows:
    - When RECON1 DD is provided in the JCL, IMS HP Image Copy
obtains the data set name from DD card and pass it to IMS
      Tools KB.
    - When RECON1 is allocated dynamically, IMS HP Image Copy
obtains the data set name from DFSMDA member and passes its
data set name to IMS Tools KB
    - When HP Image Copy can not obtain the data set name of RECON1
from both RECON1 DD and DFSMDA member, it obtains the data set
name of RECON2 from RECON2 DD or DFSMDA member and passes to
      IMS Tools KB
Also, IMS HP Image Copy has been changed to schedule the
termination of IMS Tools KB in order not to schedule later IMS
Tools KB process when the initialization request of IMS Tools
    KB is not completed successfully.
