Error description
LINK to Liberty does not support DPL with SYNCONRETURN, but it is silently ignored.
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: LINK to Liberty does not support EXEC * * CICS LINK with SYNCONRETURN, but it is * * silently ignored. * **************************************************************** PI63005 enabled support for EXEC CICS LINK to a Jave EE application. It is documented in the CICS Knowledge Center that a DPL to a Java EE application does not support SYNCONRETURN, but SYNCONRETURN is silently ignored and the EXEC CICS LINK succeeds.
Problem conclusion
CICS is updated to return INVREQ, resp2 = 56 if SYNCONRETURN is specified on a DPL to a Java EE application. The following pages in the IBM Knowledge Center will be updated: https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSGMCP_5.3.0/ com.ibm.cics.ts.java.doc/topics/link_2_liberty.html https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSGMCP_5.4.0/ applications/developing/java/link_2_liberty.html The sentence: "The Java EE application is invoked using the DPL subset of the CICS API and SYNCONRETURN is ignored." will be changed to: "However, the Java EE application is restricted to the DPL subset of the CICS API so will be prevented from issuing a SYNCPOINT command. In addition, a DPL to the Java EE application which specifies the SYNCONRETURN option on the LINK command will fail with RESP=INVREQ, RESP2=56 because the mirror transaction is unable to perform a syncpoint." The following pages in the IBM Knowledge Center will be updated: https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSGMCP_5.3.0/ com.ibm.cics.ts.applicationprogramming.doc/commands/ dfhp4_link.html https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSGMCP_5.4.0/ reference/commands-api/dfhp4_link.html The following will be added at the end of the "INVREQ" section: 56 The SYNCONRETURN option is specified, but it is invalid when linking to an application in a Liberty JVM server.
