Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server * * Traditional and Liberty users of WebSockets * * and SSL * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A NullPointerException FFDC can be * * generated while utilizing WebSockets * * and SSL. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** WebSocket connections will cancel outstanding reads for various reasons, such as closing the connection. When this happens with SSL enabled, the SSL Channel could throw a NullPointerException and an FFDC would be generated.
Problem conclusion
The SSL Channel was modified to use the previously set callback to avoid the NullPointerException. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 17.0.0.3, 8.0.0.15, 8.5.5.13, 9.0.0.6.
