APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • With RDz 9.5.1.1 and 9.5.1.4 when a sequential file or VB file
with long LRECL is opened with the data editor from Remote
Systems View, all files thereafter are opened with the data
editor including *.pli files.  PLI files should be opened with
the PLI editor if mapped correctly.

Local fix

  • Change the editor association by right clicking on the member
and selecting Open With.

Problem summary

  • When a sequential file is opened with the data editor (or the
external editor) from Remote Systems View as a result of the
users choice, after receiving a prompt indicating the file has
long lines , subsequent attempts to open sequential files end up
also opening in the data editor (or an external editor).

Problem conclusion

  • When the user is prompted to use the data editor (or an external
editor) and the user agrees, a file open policy gets set that
isn't unset until the product is restarted.
