PI79216: EXPECTED ERROR DSQ16950 MESSAGE IS NOT ISSUED (FOR SQLCODE950 OFCONNECT TO) AFTER UPGRADE TO QMF V11.1

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The customer reported the expected error DSQ16950 message is not
  issued (for SQLCODE950) after upgrade to QMF V11.1.
  
  If user tried connecting to an incorrect DB2 SSID, in prior
  releases of QMF, the following DSQ16950 message was immediately
  displayed.
  
  The location name is not known to the local DB2 subsystem.
  
  No message was issued in QMF v11.1 if an unkown DB2 SSID was
  specified.
  But pressing <PF1> brought up the expected Help: Message
  providing the detailed explanation of "Unavailable resource".

Problem summary

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When issuing the CONNECT command to an  *
  *                      invalid or unknown location,the user    *
  *                      does not receive any error message. The *
  *                      user receives a blank message above the *
  *                      command line. If he presses PF1, he     *
  *                      does see the SQL code -950 with the     *
  *                      DSQ16950 but he had no outward          *
  *                      indication that an error had occurred.  *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  ****************************************************************
  Module DSQDCONN was incorrectly processing CONNECT error
  messages.  The problem is not specific to DSQ16950 but could be
  any CONNECT error message.
  

Problem conclusion

• DSQDCONN has been corrected.
