Error description
You are using transaction routing into CICS over an IPIC connection. What you have happening is your IPCONN is disconnecting and is not reconnecting. You would expect to see messages DFHIS2009 (released) and DFHIS2001 (acquired) but do not. Using the CEMT INQ you see your IPCONN is in an acquired (ACQ) state. TSO NETSTAT command shows the IP socket has closed but again the IPCONN still shows as acquired. You also start seeing messages: DFHIS1021 Session error occurred on RECEIVE IPIC session in IPCONN. DFHIS1015 Unable to accept connection for IPCONN ipconn. IPCONN client session state is invalid. Error code is (code X'0515'). Your internal CICS trace table shows: SO 0E01 SOUS EVENT - ASYNCIO_EXIT RETURN_VALUE(-1) RETURN_CODE(140) REASON_CODE(76697242) SO 0E20 SOUS *EXC* - PEER_DISCONNECTED RETURN_VALUE(-1) RETURN_CODE(140) REASON_CODE(76697242) The connection is closed and you see IS 0906 ISZA DATA - IS7 ERROR sense code X'08640001'. . CICS is failing to recognize the closed IP socket and recover the IPCONN Additional Symptom(s) Search Keyword(s): KIXREVRER

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: * * All CICS users. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: * * After a socket has been closed an IPCONN is left in aquired * * state. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * * . * **************************************************************** CICS region contacts with another system via IPIC. Transaction routing request arrives in CICS and CISR is resumed to handle it. The related application task then gets resumed to run. It issues a synchronous web receive for the rest of the request but fails because the socket has been closed. To handle this exception, CICS tries to resume the CISE task by adding this error session into the CISE error queue, but this fails because the session token used is null. Therefore, the IPIC connection can not be released and remains in ACQuired status.
Problem conclusion
DFHISSR has been changed to make sure CISE can be notified if the synchronous web receive failed because of the session disconnection.
