Error description
5C6-00E60092 abend is occuring in module CSQWVZD1, and is caused by a change made by APAR PI60773 (PTF UI37323). . The ABEND is due to an overlay of the IIDT control block. . The problem is in SMF statistics (SMF 115) processing and will stop SMF data collection from working correctly. It will only occur in a queue sharing group ( QSG ) environment. . Additional details: The problem is applicable to queue managers which are part of a QSG, and which have SMF Statistics collection enabled. . The scenario which triggeres the problem is when a unit of work which has done shared-queue work is backed out. If such a UoW has a lot of shared queue changes associated with it (i.e. tens of puts or gets of messages to a shared queue), then the error can leave bad state in a control block related to SMF statistics collection. . Once this has occurred, the task which collects SMF statistics can hit the abend due to the bad state. The abend itself is dealt with by the queue manager and application processing will continue. However, the SMF statistics will not be collected correctly. . You may also find that once in this state, the abends continue to occur whenever SMF statistics collection attempts to run. A qmgr restart would be needed to stop the abends. . . Additional Symptom(s) Search Keyword(s): CSQESYNC TAB IIDT . Local fix
The problem can be circumvented by stopping the collection of queue manager statistics records on each member of the QSG: STOP TRACE(STAT) DEST(SMF) If the queue manager might be restarted before the fix for this APAR is applied, include that command in a CSQINP2 member or set SMFSTAT=NO in CSQ6SYSP.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: * * All users of IBM MQ for z/OS Version 9 Release 0 * * Modification 0. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: * * If a queue manager in a queue sharing group is collecting * * SMF statistics various abends may be seen when a unit of * * work containing a large number of shared queue requests is * * backed out, * * e.g: * * Abend 5C6-00E60092 in CSQWVZD1, * * Abend 5C6-00E20001 in CSQSVBK, * * Abend 0C4-00000004 in CSQWVAPR, * * Abend 0C4-00000011 in CSQWVZSS, * * Abend 0C4-00000004 in CSQWVSMT * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When managing the back out of a unit of work containing a large number of shared queue requests, CSQESYNC processes past the end of an array, resulting in a bit being incorrectly turned on in the IIDT control block. Later, during the processing of SMF records, the incorrect value in the IIDT leads to the abends seen.
Problem conclusion
Code has been changed in CSQESYNC to correctly set the array size and so prevent the storage overlay that leads to the abends.
