Error description
ALZBATCH batch goes into a loop after an end-of-virtual-memory event is detected, where it should report the event and end with RC=0008. This tight loop shows activity in routines: ALZBRSTM around x'cc' ALZXPORT around x'bc0' ALZ4QMGR around x'386' As part of this fix, we'll need to limit filter processing resource usage for message continuation records.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of IMS Problem Investigator * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: ALZBATCH - Reduce virtual-memory use * * when using filtering and resolve an * * end-of-VM handling issue. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** 1. After install of PI68447 the virtual memory requirement for ALZBATCH FILTER processing has increased and can be limiting when processing very large IMS log input files. 2. ALZBATCH can enter a loop after an end-of-virtual-memory even is detected, where it should report the event and end RC=0008
Problem conclusion
1. To satisfy requirements of "RFE #90560 - Extract of Message Continuation" changes were made in batch filter processing that can result in a significant increase in the virtual storage requirement of ALZBATCH when very large IMS log input files are processed. The design of the enhancement provided i PI68447 has been modified in order to cap the resource overhe introduced by this enhancement. 2. In many instances ALZBATCH is able to detect an the condition and end RC=0008. However, it currently enters a CPU-intensive loop. The process has been modified to ensure t the batch job ends cleanly after reporting the condition.
