Error description

  • getting java.lang.StackOverflowError on WAR
    application startup with Liberty 8.5.5.9-cl50920160227-1523,
    during
    execution of:

    com.ibm.ws.app.manager.war.internal.WARApplicationHandlerImp
    l.in
    stall()

    The problem occurs because the annotation
    "com.google.common.annotations.GwtCompatible" itself has an
    @GwtCompatible annotation. The recursive use causes a
    problem
    for the
    annotation scanning framework, which attempts to resolve --
    a
    second
    time -- the @GwtCompatible annotation before completing the
    registration
    of the first resolution. An infinite loop results. The
    problem
    will
    occur on any loop in annotation usage, for example:

    @Retention(RetentionPolicy.CLASS)
    @Target({ElementType.TYPE, ElementType.METHOD})
    @SelfAnnotation(false)
    public @interface SelfAnnotation {
    boolean value();
    }

    Multi-step loops will also cause an infinite loop.

    ****************************************************************
    A java.lang.StackOverflowError occurs in code where an
    annotation definition includes a reference to itself, using
    itself as an annotation. These nested references recur
    infinitely, causing the error.
