PI60329: FS90/MODCB FAILURE IN MIXED V5+/PREV5 COBOL PROGRAM WITH VSAM I/O 16/04/06 PTF PECHANGE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The problem affects the users with COBOL programs, compiled
  with pre V5 and V5+ compiler in the same LE ENCLAVE, using
  EXTERNAL VSAM FILE.
  At the I/O verb, you may get an IGZ021C message and ABEND, or
  user file status set to X'90' and subsequence I/O operation on
  the file would fail.

  In a mixed COBOL levels environment, a control block used to
  modify the DFSMS's RPL control block is corrupted. The
  modification of the RPL is needed for VSAM I/O operations.
  

Problem conclusion

• The code to update the control block has been corrected.
