Error description
When applying changes to a WMQ ConnectionFactory, the Administrator Console deletes any authDataAlias used to specify the (deprecated) component-managed authentication alias without any warning.
Local fix
Try to use AdminTask.createWMQConnectionFactory rather than AdminConfig.create to create the WMQ Connection Factory Specifying the -authDataAlias (which is equivalent to specifying -componentAuthAlias on the createWMQConnectionFactory task) specifies the default component-managed authentication alias associated with the resource. This has been deprecated and the admin console cannot be used to either display this value nor to set it (though clearly it deletes it). Generally it is better to use an alternative to a default container-managed auth alias and use indirect jndi lookups/resource references and container-manager auth aliases (the auth alias can be either the default associated with the reosurce or can specified as part of the resource-ref).
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: WebSphere Application Server users of WMQ * * Connection Factories with default * * component-managed authentication aliases. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Any update to a WMQ Connection * * Factory via the Admin Console will * * delete its default component-managed * * authentication alias. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The form used by the Admin Conole for viewing and updating WMQ Connection Factory configuration did not store the current value of the default component-managed authentication alias. When any change was made to the configuration of the WMQ Connection Factory the resulting update deleted the value in error.
Problem conclusion
The Admin Console code was modified so that it correctly processed the current value of the default component-managed authentication alias for WMQ Connection Factories so the current value was maintained. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.5.10.
