Error description

  • The fix for PM69749 has introduced a rigorous control of the
CCSID output requested via the CCSID option in order to avoid
conversions that might lead to output data truncation. As this
is only a potential risk that the user might be aware of and
might have already checked he/she was not impacted by, the
ability to allow risky CCSID specification was kept via the
    CHECK_CCSID_STRICT(YES) subparameter of the VUU030/ULOPTNS
parameter. However, the more risky conversions, i.e. from UTF16
to a non DBCS CCSID remain forbidden. Even for this kind of
conversion, if the user masters the content of his/her source
data, such a request might not lead to any data loss. Therefore,
a way to tolerate this kind of unload request should be given to
the user to avoid any maintenance on existing jobs of that kind.

Local fix

  • Local fix: none because there is no way to make DB2 HPU accept
to run an unload specifying a potentially risky CCSID
conversion. However, the same output can be obtained by using
the rigth way to convert UTF16 data into non graphic CCSID that
consists in unloading such data into char type output fields
    (CHAR, VARCHAR or CLOB).
