Error description

  • 1) Expected behavior:
    No error on ounceautod_output.log
    2) Observed behavior:
     ERROR: ORBInitializer Registry unable to find the
    ORBInitializer Registry instance: Invalid argument
    3) Workarounds (if applicable):
     Add symbolic link
     You need to goto :
       /opt/ibm/appscansource/bin
     as root and then run:
       ln -s libTAO_PI.so.2.0.5 libTAO_PI.so
    4) Reproduction Steps:
      Make sure there is no symbolic link for libTAO_PI.so
      1. Delete libTAO_PI.so in /opt/ibm/appscansource/bin
      2. /etc/init.d/ounceautod start

Local fix

Problem summary

    * The issue occurs on Linux OS and users of AppScan Source     *
    * product notice this behavior on that OS only.                *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * When users install AppScan Source version 9.0.2 or earlier   *
    * with Automation server feature on a Linux machine, they will *
    * notice an error in ounceautod_output.log that says something *
    * like this:                                                   *

    * ERROR: ORBInitializer Registry unable to find the            *
    * ORBInitializer Registry instance: Invalid argument           *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    * To receive a fix out-of-the-box for this issue, customers    *
    * are recommended to upgrade to AppScan Source version 9.0.3.  *
    ****************************************************************
    

Problem conclusion

  • This issue is fixed in version 9.0.3 of the product.  Users will
    no longer see the above mentioned error message when Automation
    server feature is installed.
