Error description

  • STC SOT STARTED BY THE STC TAS IS KEEPING AN ENQUEUE ON DL1 DATA
    BASE DURING BTS TESTS USING DAI
    When we try to delete/define the database, the delete is
    rejected because the database is in use :
    IKJ56241I DATA SET BT.IMSVK.FCMDLOG.CLUSTER NOT ALLOCATED
    IKJ56241I DATA SET IS ALLOCATED TO ANOTHER JOB OR USER

    * USERS AFFECTED: Users who execute applications in a *
    * DAI SOT that dynamically allocate *
    * data sets but do not free them. *
    *                                                              *
    * Users who start a DAI server that *
    * attempts to connect to an XCF group *
    * where the server is already active. *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: If an application executing in a DAI *
    * SOT dynamically allocates data sets *
    * but does not free them, the data sets *
    * remained allocated in the SOT address *
    * space until the TAS server was *
    * stopped. An example was seen when BTS *
    * executing in an SOT address space used *
    * IMS services that dynamically allocated *
    * IMS databases. The databases remained *
    * allocated in the SOT after BTS ended. *
    *                                                              *
    * DAI s TAS server controls starting and *
    * stopping SOT address spaces. If *
    * multiple TAS instances are started in *
    * the same XCF group, they compete for *
    * control of the SOT address spaces. *
    * This resulted in unpredictable *
    *                      processing.                             *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: APPLY the PTF. *
    ****************************************************************
    SOT processing will check for allocations left in the address
    space after an application ends. If residual allocations are
    detected, they will be freed. If the free is not successful,
    the SOT will stop itself and TAS will start a replacement SOT.

    Before joining an XCF group, DAI's TCP and TAS servers will
    determine if a server instance is already active in the group.
    When this situation is detected, the starting server will issue
    a duplicate server message (AII2006E) and will stop with
    ABENDU500-14.

Problem conclusion

  • APPLY the PTF.
