PI42783: IRTOPT UTILITY INCORRECTLY SETS RCABEND DEFAULT TO 3624 INSTEAD OF BLANKS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• IRTOPT utility incorrectly sets RCABEND default to 3624. The
  default should be blanks.  This can lead to unexpected
  ABENDU3624 in PRF.
  

Local fix

• Set RCABEND=0 in IRT$CNTL, or blanks for this value via the ISPF
  panel.

  *                          changes PRF V2.1 default RCABEND    *
  *                          and UABEND values from 0 to 3624.   *
  *                          This modifies job abend and         *
  *                          return code behavior.               *

  *                      2 - The IRTOPT Conversion Utility sets  *
  *                          the SYSOUT default incorrectly.     *
  *                          This invalidates the PRF V2.2       *
  *                          options file.                       *
  *                                                              *
  *                      3 - The IRTOPT Conversion Utility       *
  *                          creates corrupted Abend Table       *
  *                          entries.                            *
  *                                                              *
  *                      4 - The IRTOPT Conversion Utility       *
  *                          creates invalid IMSGROUP entries    *
  *                          when the same IMSID is defined in   *
  *                          multiple IMSGROUP statements in     *
  *                          a PRF V2.1 inclusion options file.  *

  *                      5 - When an IMSGROUP is defined in      *
  *                          a PRF V2.1 inclusion options file   *
  *                          on a JOB, PGM, PSB, or IJS          *
  *                          statement, the IRT206W warning      *
  *                          message does not correctly describe *
  *                          the problem.                        *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

  Several issues with the IRTOPT conversion utility have been
  found. In addition, the presence of ABRCC entries or IMSGROUP
  entries in the PRF V2.1 inclusion options file will result in
  an invalid V2.2 options module.
  

Problem conclusion

• 1. The IRTOPT Conversion Utility will use the PRF V2.1 default
  values for RCABEND and UABEND when creating default values for
  a PRF V2.2 options file.
  
  2. The IRTOPT Conversion Utility will use a default SYSOUT
  value of '*' when creating the PRF V2.2 options file.
  
  3. The Abend Table creation logic in the IRTOPT Conversion
  Utility has been corrected.
  
  4. The IMS Group creation logic in the IRTOPT Conversion
  Utility has been corrected.
  
  5. New and clearer error messages have been added to the
  IRTOPT Utility.
