Error description

  • These issues are being addressed:
    1. Co-requisite to IMS PA APAR PI40457 - RLDS support in DBRC
       options in System Definitions.
    2. If certain log record types (IMS X'4E' - Monitor) are
extracted by IMS PI the records may be subsequently
corrupted in processing the extract data set.
    3. Support IMS Service updates which may modify the contents or
construct of IMS, Connect and other log record types.
    4. Forward fit of IMS Problem Investigator V230 APAR PI41839
(Random abends {eg S0C4, S0C6} processing IMS V13 log with
records containing compressed data). ABEND0C4 ABENDS0C4
                                             ABEND0C6 ABENDS0C6
       Another symptom of this found: ABEND0C1 in ALZ991 ( ALZ99D )
at x'4B9A' when processing compressed data. ABENDS0C1 S0C1
    5. Filtering on DB2 LUWID may fail under some circumstances.
       If a Filter for a specific DB2 log code (e.g. DB2 0020 - UR
control) contains a condition defining a specific LUWID then
no results will be returned, even if there are records that
validly satisfy the criteria. The composite key containing
the LUWID component parts used for comparison checking was
not being constructed in the case of specific record codes,
only in the case of CODE=ALL being used.

This APAR addresses the following issues:
    1. Co-requisite to IMS PA APAR PI40457 - RLDS support in DBRC
       options in System Definitions.
    2. If certain log record types (IMS X'4E' - Monitor) are
extracted by IMS PI the records may be subsequently corrupted
in processing the extract data set.
    3. Support IMS Service updates which may modify the contents or
construct of IMS, Connect and other log record types.
    4. Random abends (eg S0C4, S0C6) processing IMS V13 log with
       records containing compressed data.
    5. Filtering on DB2 LUWID may fail under some circumstances.

Problem conclusion

  • The following changes have been made for the above issues:
    1. System Definitions may be shared between IMS PA and IMS PI,
PI40457 introduces RLDS support into DBRC Options in IMS
PA V4.4, this option must also be supported in IMS PI V2.4.
    2. IMS X'4E' Monitor records are de-blocked and require
pre-processing in IMS PI for an online Monitor session.
If these records are subsequently extracted and the extract
is processed by IMS PI the pre-processing of these records
is no longer required. Extracted records must be identified
on input and flagged as not requiring pre-processing which
       may corrupt the extracted record.
    3. Update Knowledge Modules impacted by IMS Service changes.
    4. The IMS x'9904' record may be truncated at any point and a
continuation record created. If the truncation occurs in a
block of compressed data, which is then passed to the Data
Compression and Expansion routine to be expanded with the
original non-truncated length specified, the expansion
fails but during the process unrelated storage may be
overlaid at random causing subsequent abends to occur.
In processing for the IMS x'9904' record, before calling
the Data Compression routine to expand compressed data the
supplied length must be validated against the actual data
length to ensure truncation has not occurred.
    5. If a Filter for a specific DB2 log code (e.g. DB2 0020 -
UR control) contains a condition defining a specific LUWID
then no results will be returned, even if there are records
that validly satisfy the criteria. The composite key
containing the LUWID component parts used for comparison
checking was not being constructed in the case of specific
record codes, only in the case of CODE=ALL being used.
