  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: This APAR opens up a previously blocked *
  *                      function that allows IDCAMS ALLOCATE    *
  *                      commands via DISP(PDS) for OSAM         *
  *                      databases. In certain cases depending   *
  *                      on MVS z/OS levels and DFSMS levels     *
  *                      this function may result in IDCAMS      *
  *                      ATTACH ERROR RC=20. Customers should    *
  *                      verify IDCAMS support before            *
  *                      implementing DDDEFPDS control cards for *
  *                      OSAM databases.                         *

  * RECOMMENDATION: INSTALL CORRECTIVE SERVICE FOR APAR/PTF      *
  ****************************************************************
  The APAR removes a restriction to call IDCAMS for ALLOCATE
  commands within DRF. This function is now supported for z/OS
  1.13 and higher on most installations. If your installation does
  not support the function the IDCAMS ATTACH RC=20 message will be
  issued instead of FRD4284E. Customers should first verify if
  this function is available on z/OS before defining OSAM
  databases to DDDEFPDS.
  

Problem conclusion

• OSAM Support for DDDEFPDS restriction has been removed to call
  IDCAMS for OSAM databases. If your current z/OS level or DFSMS
  level does not support this, the FRD4284E message will be
  changed to IDCAMS ATTACH RC=20.
