PI31307: RETURN-CODE NOT SET WHEN MAIN COBOL RETURNS TO MVS USING RTEREUS(ON).

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• RC0 received in job whose main COBOL program moved a non-zero
  value to RETURN-CODE prior to GOBACK. Problem only occurs when
  RTEREUS is ON.
  

Local fix

• Set RTEREUS(OFF). Note: RTEREUS cannot be set dynamically and a
  CEEUOPT, user exit needs to be used to override any defaults.

  The COBOL runtime library was not always setting the return code
  correctly at termination for COBOL V5 main programs running
  under the RTEREUS runtime option.
  

Problem conclusion

• The COBOL runtime library is fixed to return the COBOL program
  return code properly when running under the RTEREUS option.
