Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
* USERS AFFECTED: Users of Enterprise COBOL release 5.1 using  *
*                 the SORT statement, and setting the          *
*                 SORT-MODE-SIZE register in the program.      *
****************************************************************
* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The COBOL runtime library does not      *
*                      format the internal SORT OPTION         *
*                      statement properly when the             *
*                      SORT-MODE-SIZE special register is      *
*                      used by the COBOL program. This         *
*                      results in an S0C4 abend when the       *
*                      COBOL SORT is invoked at execution      *
*                      time.                                   *

* RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

If the SORT-MODE-SIZE register is used in the program when
using COBOL SORT, the program may hit S0C4 abend during the
SORT.
