APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When executing IMSDBREFRESH with AUTO-STOP-TARGET-DB(Y) and
AUTO-START-TARGET-DB(Y) and STOP-COMMAND(QUIESCE) and NOFEOV, if
IMS Cloning Tool stops the databases on the target system, it
incorrectly adds the NOFEOV keyword on the /STA command.
Also to be addressed in this APAR is:
When masking data for HDAM database during database refresh,
we specified UNLOAD-FROM(SOURCE) keywords with IMSDBREFRESH
command to unload from the original source database.
The unload file with the specified data masked was created
successfully, but DBRC action by DBRC-ACTION(REDEFINE) keyword
    (default) was not performed.
DELETE.DB, INIT.DB and INIT.DBDS commands to redefine the
target database were not issued to the database IVPDB2.

    ****************************************************************
This APAR is addressing the following issues:
    1. IMSDBREFRESH AUTO-START-TARGET-DB(Y) incorrectly issues
/STA command with NOFEOV keyword (PI20431)
When executing IMSDBREFRESH with AUTO-STOP-TARGET-DB(Y) and
    AUTO-START-TARGET-DB(Y) and STOP-COMMAND(QUIESCE) and NOFEOV,
if IMS Cloning Tool stops the databases on the target system,
it incorrectly adds the NOFEOV keyword on the /STA command.
    2. IMSDBREFRESH POSTCOPY not starting target databases
This issue was reported in APAR PI17592 which will be closed
    as a duplicate of PI20431.
IMSDBREFRESH POSTCOPY command does not start the target
databases that were stopped by a prior IMSDBREFRESH PRECOPY
command. This leaves the target databases offline after the
    IMSDBREFRESH commands have completed.
    3. Misc errors when running IMSDBREFRESH in SIMULATE mode
This issue was reported in APAR PI21187 which will be closed
    as a duplicate of PI20431.
There are certain functions with IMSDBREFRESH that require
something to be created during the database cloning process
then in turn used in another step of database cloning.
    These functions include:
    1. Data masking - a temp unload file is created (bypassed with
SIM ) but then needs to be read in order to do the masking.
    2. Log apply - no SWI OLDS commands are issued to cause logs
to be archived so it may stay in a wait condition or timeout
waiting for a needed log to archive.
    3. COPY-IF-NO-IMS-TARGET-DB - objects must be defined on the
target IMS (bypassed with SIM) for the normal database clone
    process to occur.
The idea behind using SIMULATE is that you can run an
IMSDBREFRESH process but do not actually cause any changes.
Running with SIM should stop at the step that needs a resource
that would normally be created during an earlier part of the
    cloning process.

Problem conclusion

  • Code has been modified to correct the above 3 issues.
Both APAR PI17592 and Pi21187 will be closed as duplicates of
    this APAR ( PI20431 ).
