Error description

  • After an IMS system abends (various types), and is restarted
with normal emergency restart, the MSC MTM link cannot be
re-established with the 2nd IMS system
One side of the link shows:PSTOPPED NOTIDLE-CE6 ACTV
    The other: PSTOPPED IDLE ERE
    *
No /RST command was successful at restarting the link. The
2nd IMS system had to be recyled also to get the link
    functioning again.
Dumps from both sides showed that the reason the links were
hung was due to the MTM window control block not being cleaned
up. It was determined that the cleanup didn't occur because
the IMS CTL TCB ESTAE was deleted. We found that TCBSTAB
for the CTL TCB was x'00000000'.
The following messages were found in the syslog:
GEX2926I IMS TOOLS GENERIC MSC EXIT INITIALIZATION IN PROGRESS
GEX2926I PROCLIB MEMBER GEXEXIT0 NOT FOUND
GEX2913W NO EXIT DEFINITION FOUND IMG1
GEX2926I IMS TOOLS GENERIC MSC EXIT IS SHUTTING DOWN
    .
It was determined that the IBM Tools Generic Exits code
deletes 1 extra ESTAE under this condition.

Local fix

  • Both sides (IMS) of the MTM link must be recycled if in the
    CE6 status.
