APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Heap dumps and system dumps can be generated from the
  Administrative Console at
  Troubleshooting > Java dumps and cores.  After generation, the
  output file location is displayed.
  
  The IBM JVM reads environment variables
  _CEE_DMPTARG and IBM_COREDIR to redirect these outputs to a
  nonstandard location.
  
  However the WebSphere code does not check for these, and when
  they are used, the displayed output location is "null".
  

Local fix

• No impact for generating system cores. This is only display
  issue.

  Environment variables _CEE_DMPTARG and IBM_COREDIR will cause
  outputs in different locations, this was not accounted for by
  WebSphere Application Server.  (Refer to JVM documentation for
  more information about these variables.)
  

Problem conclusion

• The code is updated to account for these variables when they
  are in use.
  
  The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
  fix pack 8.5.5.3.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates
  page for delivery information:
