Error description
An increase in queue manager private storage is due to a build up of WQST control blocks associated with long-running threads. These WQST control blocks are allocated as the queue-manager has class 3 accounting active, and are for queues which have actualy been closed. Under normal circumstances these WQST control blocks would be released for long-running threads when the statistics interval is reached. However, this is not happening as the queue-manager object has ACCTQ(NONE), which means that the WQST control blocks will not actually be released until the long-running threads end. Stopping CLASS 3 accounting trace will prevent the build-up of additional WQST control blocks however any existing control blocks will only be released when the associated threads are ended. . Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere MQ for z/OS Version 7 * * Release 1 Modification 0. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: 'CSQY221I: QUEUE MANAGER IS SHORT OF * * LOCAL STORAGE' occurs when accounting * * class 3 trace is enabled, and long * * running tasks access queues for which * * accounting is disabled. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When class 3 accounting trace is enabled, a WQSTAT control block is created for each queue used by a task. These blocks are normally freed when the task ends, or in the case of long running tasks, when they have not been used in the last statistics interval (STATIME). However, for queues with ACCTG(OFF), or ACCTG(QMGR) if the queue manager object has ACCTG(OFF), the control blocks are only freed when the task ends. This can lead to a build up of these control blocks for long running tasks that access a large number of queues that accounting is disabled for, potentially leading to storage shortages in the queue manager address space, as reported by CSQY221I and CSQY222E. In some cases this could lead to SOS abends including S878, and queue manager termination S6C6.
Problem conclusion
CSQ7PLRT is changed to free unused WQSTAT blocks for queues with accounting disabled that have not been used in the last statistics interval. 100Y CSQ7COLL CSQ7PLRT
