• QMF in QBE (Query By Example) mode returns error message:

    the name of the column is more than 30 characters

Problem summary

  The QBE feature of QMF is documented as not supporting long
  column, table, or view names.  QBE was working as designed
  when it rejected a column name greater than 18 characters.
  

Problem conclusion

• QBE has been enhanced to provide support for long column names
  (up to 30 characters) in DB2 tables.  This fix does not include
  support for long table or view names; the code required to
  provide full long-name support is not deemed appropriate for
  a PTF fix.
