APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When a new resource is added to a group, a BMCP routine is run.
This determines whether an update to the resource list needs to
be triggered or not. In this case, the BMCP routine identifies
an incorrect RASGNDEF by virtue of its similarity with the
resource type being newly defined. This identification overlooks

the RASGNDEF_FILTER that needs to match for the new resource and

BMCP routine fails to install the desired resource.

Local fix

  • A restart of the CMAS fixes the issue because the resource list
is being built from scratch based on information from the data
    repository

    * RECOMMENDATION: The PTFs addressing this APAR should be *
    * applied to all CMAS regions. This can be *

    ****************************************************************
Fully functional business application services resource
assignments (RASGNDEF) are used to control where a BAS resource
is installed. When multiple RASGNDEFs are associated with a
resource description (RESDESC), resources may not be correctly
installed. This is due to the processing in PRC_RDSC when a
resource is created or updated, which is associated with the
resource description. This does not correctly evaluate all
related resource assignments when multiple are defined. The
result of which is that the in memory relationship between
the BAS resource and region is not created when the
resource is added or updated, the lack of which results
in the resource not being installed in all the expected regions
    as defined in the RASGNDEFs.

Problem conclusion

  • BAS resource add/update logic has been corrected, to process
all related resource assignments, resulting in the resource(s)
being installed in the correct regions.
