Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of the IMS High Performance * * Change Accumulation Utility of IMS Recovery * * Solution Pack for z/OS Version 2 Release 1 * * ( FMID=HAHM210 ). * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: This APAR improves IMS HP Change * * Accumulation performance under certain * * conditions. * * This APAR also includes the correction * * of existing message number. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: INSTALL CORRECTIVE SERVICE FOR APAR/PTF * **************************************************************** IMS HP Change Accumulation improves performance when run under the following conditions: - Both CATDS and NOCHECK are defined for DBRC RECON status - Use parallel sort in the standard job processing - RECON data sets are allocated or IMS MDA library that defined RECON data sets are specified in IMS HP Change Accumulation main JCL - Use necessary temporary data set is allocated on DASD The standard job processing creates address spaces for each CA group, and each address space creates CA data sets in parallel. The main program reads input log data sets, distributes the data to work data sets for each CA group, and writes them out. Created address spaces (SORT tasks) reads log data from work data sets instated of real log data sets. Even though, sort tasks allocate real log data sets dynamically provisionally for CA record registration in DBRC. If the log data sets are on tape, the same data set cannot be allocated in multiple address spaces at the same time due to OS limitations. To avoid the limitation, IMS HP Change Accumulation serializes log data set allocation and DBRC process in each sort task. With this enhancement, under certain conditions, without serialization for log data set allocation and DBRC process in the sort task. Avoiding serialization improves overall processing performance. The IMS HP Change Accumulation message HPC0101E is incorrectly output as HPC101E in HPCPRINT DD, so it is corrected.
