PH59972: A LARGE NUMBER OF DFHWB0761 FOR STATIC RESPONSE SEND FAILED WHEN CONNECTION CLOSED

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Many DFHWB0761 messages were being given out like:
  DFHWB0761 .. applid CWXN An attempt to send a static response
               has failed due to an internal error.
               Client IP address: xxx.xx.xx.xxx
               TCPIPSERVICE: nnnnnnnn.
                                                                 .
  The CICS internal trace from a dump on the message showed:
  xxxxx L8xxx SO 0202 SOCK EXIT SEND/EXCEPTION CONNECTION_CLOSED,0
  ..
  xxxxx QR    WB 0501 WBSR  EXIT  SEND_STATIC_RESPONSE/EXCEPTION
                                  CONNECTION_CLOSED
                                                                 .
  The message is not needed for the scenario where the client has
  simply gone away.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A large number of DFHWB0761 messages    *
  *                      are being output for a connection       *
  *                      closed response.                        *
  ****************************************************************
  An HTTP client connects to CICS requesting a URI.  The URIMAP is
  looked up and a static response has been defined.  During the
  send of the static response to the client the client closes the
  socket causing a error connection closed within the CICS code.
  This leads to the message DFHWB0761 to be output to the log.

Problem conclusion

• DFHWB0761 will no longer be output if the client closes the
  connection before the static response is returned.
