• After an IPL at the weekend
  we got a dump of one of our CMASes .
  The dump title was : EYU0XZPT

  *                      CICSplex(cicsplex).                     *
  *                                                              *
  *                      The workload can be any hex string that *
  *                      may, or may not, contain printable      *
  *                      characters.                             *
  *                      This is an indication that a storage    *
  *                      overlay has occurred in a CPSM          *
  *                      dataspace. There may, or may not, be    *
  *                      further errors, depending on what is    *
  *                      overlaid.                               *
  ****************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the PTF to all MASes. These can be     *
  *                 done in any order.                           *
  ****************************************************************
  During routing region (RR) startup the CMAS passes the address
  of a WTOR control block back to the routing region, which the
  RR then updates in method WNWK (EYU0WNWK).
  
  In this case invalid addresses were passed to EYU0WNWK, which
  in turn updated the wrong storage leading to random errors,
  which may occur hours later, if at all.
  

Problem conclusion

• Method WNWK (EYU0WNWK) has been modified to validate the
  WNWK_TOR_DESC address passed from the CMAS. It now checks
  a) The address points to a WTOR,
  and
  b) the WTOR is for this MAS.
  
  If either of these tests fail the MAS will take a timely dump
  of the MAS, the CMAS, and the CPSM dataspaces to allow further
  diagnosis.
