PH57932: CICS JVM server does not enable due to UnsupportedOperationException when running with Java 8.0.8.11

APAR status

Error description

• A JVMSERVER fails to enable when using Java 8 version 8.0.8.11
  (FP11) when SJ level 4 tracing is enabled.
  
  The JVMSERVER's stderr and log output will show:
  
  java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException
  
  and
  
  JVM threw an exception on startup. Halting JVMSERVER
  .
  Additional keywords: STNTRSJ 4, STNTRSJ=4
                       unsupported operation exception
  

Local fix

• Turn off SJ level 4 tracing.
  

Problem summary

  A change in Java 8 version 8.0.8.11 (FP 11) causes an
  UnsupportedOperationException when SJ domain tracing is set to
  level 4 on JVM server start-up.
  

Problem conclusion

• CICS has been updated in line with the changes in Java 8 version
  8.0.8.11 (Fix Pack 11) so that the UnsupportedOperationException
  no longer occurs.
  This fix resolves the issue seen at or beyond the following
  Java service releases:
  
  - Java 8 8.0.8.11
  - Java 11 11.0.21
  - Java 17 17.0.9
