PH56964: CHOOSING RANDOM FOR A NOT PADDED INDEX DOESN'T PREVENT USER ON PANEL ADB21XAR

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Panel ADB21XAR is not completely stopping the end user with an
  error message when a VARCHAR column index is defined as PADDED
  NO and an INDEX ordering is changed to RANDOM. It still
  generates wrong ALTER INDEX syntax and fails with -628.
  According to the customer , we should not let the user leave the
   panel ADB21XAR if PADDED is set to NO and chooses to change the
   order to RANDOM.

  *                      PADDED=NO option.                       *

  The Db2 restriction for RANDOM column ordering when PADDED=NO
  was not validated correctly in the following scenario on panel
  ADB21XAR:
  - The user specifies the RA line command on a VARCHAR column
  when PADDED=YES or blank.
  - The user specifies PADDED=NO and issues NEXT.
  This lack of validation can result in an incorrect Db2
  statement and SQL code -628.
  This APAR adds a fix to validate this Db2 restriction. If the
  selected options violate this restriction, error message
  ADB722E is returned, so that you can correct it:
  ADB722E <Option 1> is not allowed with <Option 2>.
