PH56666: EXCEPTION IN WUI DISPLAYING MONITOR RECORDS WHEN PPERSUPR VALUE EXCEEDS STRUCTURE SIZE.

APAR status

Error description

• When displaying the MONITOR records, the WUI raises an exception
  when the PPERSUPR value overflows the structure size. The issue
  affects all views which get values for monitor values, where
  the number
  of suppressed performance records is at such a high ratio to
  written performance records.
  
  The message "EYUVC1278E Unable to obtain data for requested
  View. 'GET' (GET) request failed. (Failed, Exception)." is
  issued.

  * RECOMMENDATION: After applying the PTF that resolves this    *
  *                 APAR, all CMAS and WUI regions must be       *
  *                 restarted. These restarts may occur in any   *
  *                 order.                                       *

  WUI views which result in a GET of the MONITOR resource type,
  such as the default WUI views of EYUSTARTMONITOR.DETAIL1 and
  EYUSTARTMONITOR.DETAILL2, as well CMCI requests for the resource
  using external resource name CICSMonitoringAndStatistics can
  fail with an exception, due to the PPERSUPR value.
  
  PPERSUPR is a PERCENT3 value representing percentage of
  performance records suppressed to writes. If this value becomes
  too large, such as due to a significant number of suppressed
  records with very few writes, the value will exceed the size
  permitted to be in a PERCENT3 value. This results in an
  exception when retrieving the PERCENT3 value, due to overflow,
  with EYU0NP3F returning return code 8 (NAG0_DISASTER) with
  reason 2 (NAG0_OVERFLOW). This then gets reported as an
  exception to the WUI view and CMCI request.
  

Problem conclusion

• PPERSUPR has been changed to return a value of '-1.000' when
  the calculated value would exceed the allowed size of the
  PERCENT3 structure.
  
  The MONITOR resource table reference in IBM Documentation will
  be updated to have the description of the PPERSUPR attribute
  detail that '-1.000' may be returned when the calculated value
  is too large for the output structure.
