APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Application Discovery Build Client gives syntax errors when
building a COBOL program which has an INCLUDE statement within
an EXEC SQL block as below.
    EXEC SQL
        INCLUDE <Include file name>
    END-EXEC.

Local fix

  • N/A

Problem summary

  • AD COBOL compiler would not correctly parse the INCLUDE
statement in an EXEC SQL if there there is a COBOL variable
defined called "INCLUDE". A "Warning [999] : Syntax error:
'INCLUDE'" is displayed in the output window.

Problem conclusion

  • Fixed by treating the INCLUDE statement as a statement and not
as a COBOL variable for this specific scenario.

Temporary fix
