APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Custom LogFormat additions using syntax like "%{%z}t" to display
    the timezone offset in the access log often return garbage data
    in IHS for Windows.

    These configurations use the underlying strftime() of the
    platform. The windows manual for strftime() mentions some
    limitations with using this field.

    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM HTTP Server on Windows *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: On Windows, using the %z strftime *
    * identifier does not reliably return a *
    *                      timezone.                               *
    *                      For example, "LogFormat %{%z}t"         *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    Any %{...}t that includes the %z format may return the wrong or
    nonsense value.

Problem conclusion

  • A new format was added, %{tzoff}t, to return the timezone info
    expected by %{%z}t
