  *                      manager's TIOT has filled, for example  *
  *                      on queue managers running as part of    *
  *                      large queue sharing groups using SMDS.  *

  *                      The errors occur when opening datasets, *
  *                      for example when:                       *
  *                       - opening an SMDS during structure     *
  *                       connection processing                  *
  *                       - allocating archive log datasets      *
  *                       - dynamically adding active logs       *
  *                                                              *

  *                      Depending on the affected processing,   *
  *                      access to messages on SMDS can be       *
  *                      restricted, or log offloads can fail    *
  *                      potentially leading to the active logs  *
  *                      filling.                                *

  In large queue sharing groups, the TIOT entries for the active
  logs and SMDS, especially where these are spread across multiple
  volumes, can exhaust the available space in the queue manager's
  TIOT, which has a maximum size of between 16k and 64k, depending
  on the installation configuration in SYS1.PARMLIB(ALLOCxx).
  After this space is exhausted the queue manager is unable to
  dynamically allocate any additional datasets, causing any such
  operations, including dynamically adding logs or pagesets,
  archiving logs, reading archive logs and opening SMDS during
  structure connection, to fail.
  

Problem conclusion

• On systems configured with NON_VSAM_XTIOT=YES in parmlib member
  DEVSUPxx, the queue manager will indicate that the entries can
  be allocated using the XTIOT where possible, greatly reducing
  the number of entries required in the TIOT.
