Error description

• Performance degradation can occur for the FREE PACKAGE
  command. This shows up as increased I/O on the Db2 catalog--
  specifically table SYSIBM.SYSPACKAUTH.

  * PH44434/UI80988 or PH46356/UI80990                           *

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
  * When scanning to remove ownership                            *
  * related records in SYSIBM.SYSPACKAUTH,                       *
  * an index scan results in excessive                           *
  * page retrievals, causing a performance                       *
  * degradation with DROP / FREE PACKAGE                         *
  * and PH44434/UI80988 or PH46356/UI80990                       *
  * applied.                                                     *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  * Apply corrective PTF when available                          *
  ****************************************************************
  After PH44434/UI80988 or PH46356/UI80990 is applied, during
  the DROP / FREE PACKAGE command, ownership related records in
  SYSIBM.SYSPACKAUTH are also removed as part of the process.
  The search for these records resulted in an inefficient scan
  of the index.
  

Problem conclusion

• Code has been changed such that the key used to search for the
  records is more aligned with the index to get a better match,
  resulting in fewer pages searched.
