Error description

  • CHINIT SMF record collection is configured for SYS(TYPE(115))
and SYS(TYPE(116)) as documented in topic -
    https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/ibm-mq/9.2?topic=zos-using-system-ma
nagement-facility - however, when attempting to write these
records via macro SMFEWTM, SMF rejects the write request with
RC24 (The record was not written because the record type
specified is not currently being recorded). Development finds
that the SMF write request being based on SUBSYS(STC) is
unintended, and should be based on the specification in
SMFPRMxx of SUBSYS(SYS) as described in the above topic. In
addition, this applies to QMGR Storage Manager statistics for
    SMF records.

Local fix

  • Allow SMF 115 & 116 in the SYS(STC(TYPE(
    )) specification in the
    SMFPRMxx member in SYS1.PARMLIB.

    ****************************************************************
CSQX123E is output in the Channel Initiator logs at each SMF
interval and Channel Initiator Statistics are not recorded.

SMF records written by the Channel Initiator are written without
providing a SUBSYS name and hence by default 'STC' is used to
search the SMFPRMxx member to determine if the record will be
written or not for the Channel Initiator.

If the STC entry in the SMFPRMxx member omits the Channel
Initiators SMF type this has the affect of suppressing Channel
Initiator SMF records and the Channel Initiator reports this via
    the CSQX123E message.

Problem conclusion

  • The code has been corrected so that when SMF records written by
the Channel Initiator are written the Queue Manager SSID is
    provided as the SUBSYS name.

This has the affect that for Channel Initiator SMF records the
entry relevant to the Queue Manager's SSID in SMFPRMxx will now
be correctly used to determine if the SMF record will be written
    or not.
