Error description

  • There are few thread pools that appear to be abandoned, when
traced back the instance of the application that was still
running. That pool appears to have been created not by the
application, but by the WAS CDI component:

    Class Name
                    | Shallow Heap | Retained Heap
    ---------------------------------------------------------------
    -------------------------------------------------
    workers java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor @ 0x8155b180
                    | 80 | 488
    '- executorService com.ibm.ws.cdi.impl.weld.ExecutorServicesImpl
    @ 0x84118358 | 16 | 16
    ---------------------------------------------------------------
    -------------------------------------------------

Looks like ExecutorServicesImpl is creating thread pools with
application class loaders as their thread context class loaders

    ****************************************************************
A memory leek can be seen, when analysing the memory you see
that the thread is created by
    com.ibm.ws.cdi.impl.weld.ExecutorServicesImpl

Problem conclusion

  • ExecutorServicesImpl was modified to ensure it cleans up its
    thread pools properly
