Error description

  • TCz job ADBSETUP fails with SQLCODE = -20008, ERROR: ATTEMPT TO
USE UNSUPPORTED FEATURE 'CREATE IN NON-UTS'. REASON CODE: 8

    Root cause:

In ADBSETUP, two table spaces ADBSREG and ADBSCC are not UTS.
They also have two tables instead of one which was inadvertently
caused by the installer when attempting to resolve the -20008.
Hence, if TCz job ADBCVUTS is used to convert the tables spaces
to UTS, the job will fail will SQLCODE = -650 due to
    non-single-table table spaces.

    Code fix/solution:

This incident occurred because the required TCz job ADBCVUTS was
not run when it was available in Db2 Admin Tool v12 FL504 in
    2019.

To alleviate situations like this, In AOC/TCz, we will ensure
that the generated job ADBCVUTS used to convert to UTS is listed
before ADBSETUP, thus encouraging that ADBCVUTS must be
    submitted before ADBSETUP.

Local fix

  • How to resolve/cleanup:

    1. For each of the table spaces, DROP the unwanted tables,
ensuring each table space has one table.

    2. Submit the TCz job ADBCVUTS. The -650 should now be resolved.

    3. Submit the TCz job ADBSETUP. The -20008 should now be
    resolved.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: TCz job ADBSETUP fails with SQLCODE *
    *                      -20008.                                 *
    ****************************************************************
TCz job ADBSETUP fails with the following error message:
SQLCODE = -20008, ERROR: ATTEMPT TO USE UNSUPPORTED
FEATURE 'CREATE IN NON-UTS'. REASON CODE: 8

This error was due to TCz showing the generated jobs
ADBSETUP and ADBCVUTS in the wrong sequence order, which
caused the DBA/installer to submit ADBSETUP before
    ADBCVUTS.

Problem conclusion

  • The problem has been resolved by ensuring that the TCz job
sequence shows the UTS conversion job ADBCVUTS before
ADBSETUP so that the DBA/installer can submit the jobs in the
correct sequence per the following instructions on TCz panel
    CCQPCST 'Finish Product Customization':
"... submit the jobs in the members in the order in which they
    apply to the DB2 entries."
