PH49230: ECI OVER TCPIP SOCKETS DO NOT GET CLOSED

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When an ECI over TCPIP connection is no longer required (either
  due to a normal CCIN UNINSTALL or a client error) CICS is not
  closing the socket.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: ECI over TCPIP sockets do not get       *
  *                      closed.                                 *
  ****************************************************************
  CICS has a TCPIPSERVICE with PROTOCOL(ECI).  If a CCIN UNINSTALL
  or an invalid request is received then the associated socket
  in CICS does not get closed.
  
  Failing to close the socket may lead to delays in the client if
  it is reliant on the socket closure to indicate there was a
  problem.  The failure also leads to a buildup of ECI sockets
  within CICS that can contribute to hitting the MAXSOCKETS limit.
  

Problem conclusion

• DFHIEIE has been changed to ensure that the socket is closed
  when the connection is no longer required.
