    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF. *
    ****************************************************************
    1. When a member of a protected PDSE data set is changed and the
started task attempts to back up that member, and the started
task does not have READ access to that data set, the started
task abends with a ICH408I INSUFFICIENT ACCESS AUTHORITY
       message.
    2. When a user runs the SURVEILLANCE command for a data set that
the user does not have READ access to, the job abends with a
       ICH408I INSUFFICIENT ACCESS AUTHORITY message.
    3. Sometimes the started task protection list is not refreshed
after a PROTECT, REPROTECT or UNPROTECT command is
       successfully run.
    4. Message CYG427I is missing from the manual and the return
code displayed in the message is incorrect.
    5. Message CYG266W should refer to the PROTECT not the REPROTECT
       command.

Problem conclusion

  • 1. When a member of a protected PDSE data set is changed and the
started task attempts to back up that member, and the started
task does not have READ access to that data set, message
'CYG411W Member not backed up. READ access required.' will be
issued. The started task will no longer abend.
    2. Message 'CYG210W READ access required for surveillance.' will
be issued when the SURVEILLANCE command is run by a user that
does not have READ access to a specified data set. The job
       will no longer abend.
    3. The started task protection list will always refresh after a
PROTECT, REPROTECT or UNPROTECT command is successfully run.
    4. Message CYG427I will be added to the manual and the correct
       return code will be displayed.
    5. Message CYG266W will be changed to say 'UNPROTECT and then
       PROTECT the resource'.
