Error description

  • When using the IBM Transformation Extender (ITX) Design Studio
and entering an adapter command line that exceeds the maximum
allowed (2048 characters) the Design Studio may crash. The
adapter in use can vary, but the result is the same.

For example, the following JDBC adapter command line exceeds
2048 bytes and results in the failure:

    -URL jdbc:db2://127.0.0.1:60000/dlwf -USER user1 -PASSWORD
    secret -QRY "SELECT field100, field101, field102, field103,
    field104, field105, field106, field107, field108, field109,
    field110, field111, field112, field113, field114, field115,
    field116, field117, field118, field119, field120, field121,

    field128, field129, field130, field131, field132, field133,
    field134, field135, field136, field137, field138, field139,
    field140, field141, field142, field143, field144, field145,
    field146, field147, field148, field149, field150, field151,

    field236, field237, field238, field239, field240, field241,
    field242, field243, field244, field245, field246, field247,

    field290, field291, field292, field293, field294, field295,
    field296, field297, field298, field299, field300 from Test1" -TV
    -AS 0 -QTY * -LSN 0 -CHARSET UTF-8

The following alternative example JDBC Adapter commaond line
using the -QUERYFILE command parameter can be used to reduce the
command line length to less than 2048 bytes in order to avoid
    the problem:

    -URL jdbc:db2://127.0.0.1:60000/dlwf -USER user1 -PASSWORD
secret -QUERYFILE query_in_a_file.txt -TV -AS 0 -QTY * -LSN 0
    -CHARSET UTF-8

Local fix

  • ITXCQ - ITX00061516
    PB / PB
Circumvention: Use adapter command options to pass in file
containing large data where this option is available (i.e. JDBC
    adapter -QUERYFILE command parameter)

Problem summary

  • Users Affected:
IBM Transformation Extender users using Design Studio

    Problem Description:
Design Studio crashes or hangs when the adapter command line
exceeds the maximum allowed (2KB) in the map card settings.

    Platforms Affected:
    Windows

Problem conclusion

  • Fixed a problem with Design Studio where it does not crash when
the JDBC (or any) adapter command line exceeds the maximum
allowed (2KB) in the map's card settings.

    Applies to:
    9.0.0.5, 10.0.0.0, 10.0.3.1, 10.1.0.2, 10.1.1.1
