Error description

• When a system has an ITX map reading a file into an unbounded
  text item interpreted as CHARACTER and language set to UTF-8,
  map may crash when reading the input data.

  Circumvention: Change the input card to point to an unbounded
  text item interpreted as binary then the map no longer crashes.
  

Problem summary

• Users Affected:
  IBM Transformation Extender users that may use a map with an
  input type which uses a minimum or maximum character
  specification and a variable-width character encoding.
  
  Problem Description:
  For certain input types, execution of a map may cause abnormal
  program termination if the size of the input data is large. This
  can occur for a text item type which is not part of a group,
  which has either a minimum or maximum character specification,
  and which uses a variable-width character encoding. Abnormal
  program termination is caused by a read which causes a memory
  access violation.

Problem conclusion

• For the relevant kinds of input types, a change was made to
  input validation logic which ensures that a sufficiently large
  buffer is allocated and populated so that all potential data for
   the input type can be read.
  
  Applies to:
  10.1.0.2, 10.1.1.1, 10.1.2.0
  
  Fixed in the next service packs and releases.
