Error description
When the compiler attempts to load a bad user supplied exit, the compiler may terminate with a C03 system ABEND instead of the expected messages and completion code.
Local fix
If the user supplied exit contains an error that prevents the compiler from loading it successfully, correct the user exit source program and rebuild the user exit module, then recompile the user source program.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of the V6.4 compiler who are * * compiling source programs that specify the * * EXIT compiler option and the MSGEXIT * * suboption or any other supported suboption * * such as INEXIT, LIBEXIT, PRTEXIT or ADEXIT, * * where the user supplied exit module can not * * be loaded. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When the compiler attempts to load a * * bad user supplied exit, the compiler * * may terminate with a C03 system ABEND * * instead of the expected messages * * and completion code. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the IBM supplied PTF * **************************************************************** After the compiler was unsuccessful in loading the user supplied exit, it entered the cleanup and termination code without first closing the SYSIN, SYSPRINT, and SYSMDECK data sets. This caused the system to abnormally terminate the compiler with the C03 system ABEND code.
Problem conclusion
The compiler has been updated so it will first close any open SYSIN, SYSPRINT and SYSMDECK data sets, before performing the cleanup and termination code, when it has a problem loading any of the user supplied exits. This will allow the compiler to end gracefully and issue any expected messages and will also prevent the C03 ABEND from occurring.
