Error description

• When the >>DATA directive for LP(64) programs is specified in
  the LINKAGE or LOCAL-STORAGE sections of the DATA DIVISION, the
  directive is ignored and no error message is produced.

  *                      unsupported section of the DATA         *
  *                      DIVISION, the directive was             *
  *                      ignored and no error message was        *
  *                      produced.                               *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the IBM supplied PTF                   *

  The compiler code that was parsing the DATA directive was not
  properly checking that a DATA directive was only specified in
  the WORKING-STORAGE SECTION of the DATA DIVISION. If it was
  specified in the LINKAGE SECTION or the LOCAL-STORAGE SECTION of
  the DATA DIVISION, the directive was ignored without emitting
  any error indication to the compiler user.
  

Problem conclusion

• The compiler has been updated so that it properly checks that a
  DATA directive only appears in the WORKING-STORAGE SECTION of
  the DATA DIVISION. If a DATA directive is found anywhere else
  in the users' source program, an error message is produced and
  the directive is ignored.
