APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When the internal representation of a client IP address is
    changed by mod_remoteip, the result is seen in %a (remote
    address) but not %h (remote hostname if HostnameLookups ON).
    
    Even when HostnameLookups are off, %h will have the underlying
    TCP peer IP address rather than the updated IP address provided
    by the mod_remoteip trusted proxy.

Problem conclusion

  • IBM HTTP Server was updated to respect changes made by
    mod_remoteip when using the '%h' log format specifier.
    
    The fix for this APAR is targeted for inclusion in IBM HTTP
    Server  fix packs 8.5.5.23 and 9.0.5.13.
