PH42744: UNABLE TO GET A ZERO PRODUCED IN A MANDATORY XML FIELD WHEN NULL RECEIVED FROM DATABASE IN ITX MAP OUTPUT

APAR status

Error description

• This issue occurs when using IBM Transformation Extender (ITX)
  to generate XML output from NULL input using the Xerces native
  schema on an output card.
  
  When receiving a NULL input from a FILE or 3rd-party adapter, if
  the output object is numeric and mandatory (and the Typetree
  properties are set with special values for NONE/ZERO) the output
  should contain a 0, but instead may be created as a zero length
  object.  The tags are produced, but appear to be empty, thus
  rendering the XML potentially invalid.
  

Local fix

• ITXCQ - ITX00061141

  Circumvention: The rule can be changed to detect the NULL
  using perhaps an EITHER() function to force a zero value.

Problem conclusion

  mandatory.

  9.0.0.4, 10.0.0.0, 10.1.0.1, 10.1.1.0
