PH41118: DFHME0121 ATTEMPT AT FORMATTING MESSAGE DFHPI0997 FAILED - INVALID DBCS FORMAT DUMP PRODUCED

Error description

• Your CICS region issues the following messages:
  
  DFHME0121 applid The first attempt at formatting message
            DFHPI0997, TD queue CPIO, has failed -
            Invalid DBCS format
  DFHDU0201 CIPREO05 ABOUT TO TAKE SDUMP. DUMPCODE: ME0121
  
  The dump showed the following exception trace entries:
    PI 0A27 PIIS *EXC* - TRANSPORT_FAILED -
  
    ME FF37 MEFO *EXC* - INVALID-FORMAT
  
  Module DFHPIPM2 is processing an error-
     msg_target_program_unavailable
  causing it to attempt to put out message:
  
  DFHPI0997 date time applid tranid PIPELINE pipename
            WEBSERVICE webservice
            The CICS pipeline manager has encountered an error:
            target program unavailable or abended.
  
  There is a bug in DFHPIPM2 where it references the web service
  name from the Pipeline instance or PIIS block after it has been
  freed.
  In this case the storage had been reused, causing the web
  service name to contain shift out character - x'0F', making
  the message module think it was dealing with DBCS characters.
  
  Additional symptoms: KIXREVRJL
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• ****************************************************************
  * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users.                              *
  ****************************************************************
  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Message DFHME0121 reports an invalid    *
  *                      DBCS format within message DFHPI0997.   *
  ****************************************************************
  CICS is acting as a web services provider and encounters an
  error while processing a request. The PIIS pipeline instance
  data is freed and the storage is reused.
  
  Message DFHPI0997 is issued with an insert taken from the
  storage location that previously held the PIIS webService_name
  field.
  
  Message DFHME0121 is then issued because the data in the insert
  contains the DBCS shift in (SI) character x'0F'.
  

Problem conclusion

• CICS is changed so it does not use webService_name as the source
  of the DFHPI0997 webservice insert if the PIIS has been freed.
